About the project

What is EraCourt?

EraCourt is an independent community project exploring original software that could reconnect owners of classic basketball games. It is the umbrella name for our work across possible game editions.

How does Project 17 fit in?

Project 17 is EraCourt's first revival effort, focused on researching replacement online services for NBA 2K17 on PC. The website describes a proposed service; it is not a playable release.

Is this an official 2K or NBA service?

No. EraCourt and Project 17 are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or operated by 2K, Visual Concepts, Take-Two Interactive, the NBA, or the NBPA. We do not represent those organizations or their support teams.

Read the full independence notice
Can I connect or download a launcher now?

Not yet. Compatibility, connection software, and online features are still under research. There is no public backend, launcher, or confirmed release date.

Will you bring back other game editions?

Possibly. EraCourt's name leaves room for future editions, but Project 17 is the current focus. Each additional game would need its own technical and rights review; no other edition is confirmed.

Your game & access

Does EraCourt include the game?

No. You would need your own lawfully obtained, appropriately licensed PC copy. EraCourt does not supply the game, a game licence, activation keys, or permission to copy someone else's installation.

Can you give me a download link or a crack?

No. We do not host or direct visitors to unauthorized game downloads, torrents, cracks, shared accounts, or activation bypasses. Linking to someone else's download is not part of this project.

What if the game is no longer sold?

A delisting or server shutdown does not by itself put a game in the public domain or grant permission to download it. EraCourt cannot provide a replacement licence. If you do not have lawful access, this project does not create it.

Will this work on consoles or mobile?

The research focus is NBA 2K17 on PC. Console compatibility has not been announced. This website works on phones, but it is not a mobile version of the game.

Will I have to modify my installation?

The connection method has not been finalized. We cannot yet promise an unchanged installation or a particular patch. Any proposed release would need documented requirements and a review of the specific method before instructions are published.

Will my old account, VC, or progress transfer?

No transfer or compatibility is promised. EraCourt has no access to official account systems or player records. Do not give us your 2K, Steam, console account password, or recovery codes.

Development & privacy

Which online modes will be supported?

No mode or feature is confirmed. Matchmaking, online play, progression, and other systems depend on compatibility research. The planned experience on this page is an aim, not a feature guarantee.

Will EraCourt be free?

Pricing has not been announced. This website does not collect payments, sell access, or accept donations. Any future offering would need clear terms before people are asked to pay.

How can I follow progress or become a tester?

Use Project updates for the current status. Public testing and sign-ups are not open. Requirements and availability will be published here if a test becomes possible.

Is a download claiming to be EraCourt safe?

We have not released a public launcher. This site currently links to no game or launcher downloads. A file circulating elsewhere should not be treated as an approved EraCourt release just because it uses our name or logo.

What information does this website collect?

The email-update and contact fields are disabled, so no signup addresses or contact messages are collected. There are no account, payment, or upload forms, and the page code uses no analytics scripts or browser storage. The hosting service may process connection information or require sign-in for a private preview under its own policies. A future player service would need its own privacy information.

Copyright & independence

Why develop a separate backend?

The intended approach is to write original connection and server software for use with a person's existing game. That is different from distributing the game's code or content. It still requires review of the actual development methods, any copying, technical protections, and applicable terms.

Read our development principles
Does Canadian law automatically allow this?

No. Canada has specific exceptions for computer-program interoperability, with conditions and limits. This website does not establish that a future EraCourt service meets them or has legal clearance.

Read the Canadian context and official sources
Does being free or non-commercial make it legal?

No. Charging nothing, crediting an owner, or describing a project as a fan or preservation effort does not automatically authorize copying or bypassing protections. Applicable permissions and exceptions still matter.

Read what these notices do and do not mean
Does owning the game give me permission to do anything with it?

No. Owning or licensing a copy does not transfer the game's copyright or give unrestricted permission to distribute, modify, or bypass protections. Applicable law, technical measures, and licence terms must be considered separately.

Read about interoperability and technical protections
Who owns the game names, artwork, and other content?

Third-party game code, artwork, audio, branding, and other protected material remain with their respective rights holders. Game names here identify the intended compatibility target. EraCourt branding is separate; the website's basketball illustrations are generated concept artwork, not game screenshots or endorsements.

Read the ownership notice
How can a rights holder raise a concern?

Our copyright page explains the information that helps identify a concern. Our contact page is prepared, but submissions are not open and a public contact address has not been announced.

This website is currently informational. The email-update and contact fields are disabled: no signup addresses or contact messages are collected, saved, or sent. There are no account, payment, or file-upload forms.

The page does not use analytics scripts or browser storage. The hosting service may process connection information or require sign-in to access a private preview under its own policies.
